I received one as a gift a few years ago. Not a big fan of the smoking fad. Most meats taste the same. The only thing I like doing on the egg is smoked deviled eggs. Besides that I don’t recommend it. Beef and fish much better grilled.

If you think an Egg is only used for smoking, then you are either lying through your teeth about owning/using one, or you're extraordinarily inept. Eggs perform as well as "grills" (aka fast, direct cooking) as they do as smokers. If you haven't indirect cooked a spatchcocked chicken, then you didn't do much with someone's extremely expensive gift to you. I hope you at least passed it along to someone without your tunnel vision. Plenty of good cooks out there would put it to good use.

Ceramicgrillstore.com is where I got all my stuff. It’s in Denton, TX if you’re in the area.

Welcome to the team.

Others have already compiled a list, but I would recommend the below accessories in addition to theirs.

- wireless thermometer
- PSWoo from CGS...this is VITAL for BGE cooking
- pizza stone
- KickAsh basket
- shopvac for ashes
- build a table if you don’t have a place already

Count me as a frequent user who does not have a table. I prefer the portability of the nest. I can move the egg easily to direct smoke away from house/screenporch/guests, depending on wind....I can put it in the garage during bad weather. If it were stuck in a table, it would take up way too much room to be stowed away.

In Frisco, actually. Purchased the grill from Charred 380 and will get stuff from there or Premier Grilling more than likely since both are much closer. Thanks for the suggestions!

I built a table for mine that has wheels, so it’s very easy to move under the back awning for if it rains.

Main reason I wanted one was for storage for my all of my tools and accessories. Pretty much everything is stowed away beneath the top of the table.

Regarding storage that’s where I can see it being a problem, but I don’t move mine off the porch.

My nest is in a closet. I wonder if I can sell it

Does the PSWoo allow you to add wood chunks to the fire without having to take everything out? I absolutely love my egg for grilling and smoking but it’s kind of pain in the arse to add wood chunks/chips in the middle of a long smoke.

what the frick are you talking about? Do you do the original intent of a Komado is for it to be a grill? Smoking is just something else it does extremely well.

It could if you purchase the half moon stones as the heat deflector I believe.

I love mine primarily because it allows me to cook at the felt line and also remove the heat deflector easily if I’m reverse searing.

I believe the step above the Woo is the adjustable rig which comes with even more attachments I believe.

I saw that BGE has something similar called the "Egg Genius." Care to explain how this works?

I have one and I like it for what it does. This version is WiFi enabled so everything is controlled from your phone via an app. This comes in handy when you are at the bar drinking and you can monitor your cook back home. There is also a direct connect mode so if you are in a location without WiFi you can still cook and access your settings. Id recommend getting the extra probe and splitter so you can keep temps on more than 1 meat at a time. This is only avalible on the BGE version and not the Flameboss currently.

Check out the Ceramic Grill Store, and look at the Large Adjustable Rig combo. I added the half shelf w/ stone. This allows you to have multiple different setups depending on what you are cooking.

As mentioned, the Kick Ash Basket is nice and once you pair that with the Kick Ash Pan, it makes cleaning out the ashes so quick and simple. Its expensive, but worth the coin.

Egg Head Forms is a treasure trove of info, ideas and recipes.

I just purchased the same. Will also hold a whole chicken in the center. The more you look online the more neat accessories you can find. Haven’t had buyers remorse for one second since purchase 10 years ago. Love my BGE.

And, to reinforce what others have said, the Egghead Forum is loaded with ideas.

Not a purchase item advice but a word on how to light. I used to buy those BGE lighting cubes and light it with 2 or 3 each use. One day I was out and scrunched up a couple paper towels, stuck into the coal, drizzled on a touch of Olive Oil and lit them up. Burn the paper towels down and the damn thing lights every time for a hell of a lot cheaper than alternatives. That's how I've done it ever since.

As for the Kick-Ash, man do I want one. Been on the fence. Not sure why $80 has me contemplating so hard, lol. These posts have me convinced. Also have been looking at the Smokeware cap.

Even cheaper....used cooking oil or other fat you’d ordinarily discard.
