Tired of spending $3.73 for iced americanos at Starbucks everyday.

For the folks that have a Nespresso, what model do you have?

I’m trying to make iced americanos everyday with 4 shots of espresso. I don’t need any of milk frothers. Trying to figure out what’s the best model for me.

Breville Creatista. Love it. I mostly use it for espresso but it makes tons of different drinks.

I have the citiz 'n milk model and I love it. It uses the older style cups. If you don't need the frother you could just go with the citiz model. It cranks out some great espresso.

The vertuo models have a pod that’s a double shot, so you can just use two of them to get 4 shots

You’d have to use 4 pods on the original machine to get four shots

Sounds like you’d be in the market for the most basic vertuo model

I didn't know the vertuo models had that option. The original has an option for one double shot.

Before you go Nespresso, have you considered a cold brewed coffee extract for your iced coffee? Cool Brew is one locally made brand, but there are others.

Nespresso pods cost about 70 cents each, so you’ll perhaps not be saving as much money as you think.

Yeah I’ve tried a couple cold brew methods.

Nothing compares to an iced americano from Starbucks lol

I always felt the double shot on the original was too watered down. I always used two pods, two single shots with the original. Ran through those pods obviously

There are vertuo pods designed specifically for one 2.7 oz shot of espresso.

The vertuo makes a pretty good espresso, especially if you’re using filtered water.

I seriously can't figure out the difference on these vertuo models besides the ones with frothers

Is the difference in these two just the colors and design of the tank?

vertuo plus

The virtuo style limits your pod selection though. Can only get first party Nespresso pods. The older line you can get pods from Peet's, Cafe Joe, etc.

The chrome holds a little more water, heats faster etc. You only need the basic for what you want I imagine

And the poster above is right, vertuo only allows nespresso brand pods. In fact I think they created a better machine to get people off the old ones and the use of alternative pods.

The vertuo pods have their own barcodes on them that the system reads to make that specific type of cup - Amount of water, water temp etc specific

We have a vertuo machine that was a gift. Fantastic coffee, but as said already OP the nespresso brand pods are expensive. If you are using 4 per day that’s not gonna be much cheaper than Starbucks.

I would try some of the vertuo full size cup pods though, hell they make some that are 14 oz of brew. Most of the full cup size are pretty strong.

Awesome. Think I'm going to get the vertuo.

I wonder if other brands will create the pods for this? Or if it's impossible due to the barcode scanner.

The vertuo means you're stuck w/nespresso only pods for the foreseeable future.

Go with an original line and you'll have many more options. You can buy luongo pods and increase the size of the pour, so you can get that coffee as watery as you'd like.

(sipping an iced shot of decaf Arpeggio as I type this)

Same here. Had it for five or six years. Works like a charm.

Love me some Arpeggio. What's your best method to ice it? Just brew it over ice or add after the shot?

I have a a Citiz and have loved it. Also bought one for work and everybody pools to buy the knockoff pods - not nearly as good but get the job done.

Knock off pods are nowhere are as good as the originals. Don't know what the hell do but cannot beat the original Nespresso pods.
