Rome:
Dino et Tony's near the Vatican. We stayed in the Trastevere area and all of the restaurants and cafe's there were great also, but I can't name them.
Florence:
La Beppa Fioraia
Enoteca Fuori Porta
Trattoria Napoleone
We did wine tours of Il Palagio winery, owned by Sting (the musician), and Santa Margarita. Il Palagio had amazing wine, olive oil, and vinigrette. Santa Margarita was more industrialized, as you'd imagine, but we did enjoy the tasting because we were able to taste top shelf sangioveses that you can't get in the states.
I'm jealous of your trip! Enjoy. That'll be life changing for your teens.

Thanks for the recommendations - we are staying in Trastevere as well. I'm intrigued by the winery owned by Sting for sure.
