Need help regarding selecting a wedding party

If this isn't appropriate for this board my bad, but I didn't know where else to put it.
I'm the best man in one of my really good friend's upcoming wedding and he told me he has a conundrum regarding the wedding party. He's stuck between 8 individuals and six available spots for groomsmen and he was asked me if I knew of a kind of competition for the 8 to compete in.
We're all between 23-25 so we still party a good amount and I honestly can't think of anything creative and was wondering if the board had any ideas?

Oh, this one's definitely OT material. Why in the hell can't he just make the two most "recent" friends into ushers without turning his life into a reality TV competition?

Obviously this call for a flip-cup tournament.

I'd volunteer to not be in it.

But seeing as how he posted this on the Food & Drink Board, he needs some kind of eating contest.
So the question is--are the guys more hot-dog eaters or pie eaters?

Hahahah sorry!
I told him to just pick and that no one would get their feelings hurt, but he's adamant on making some kind of competition out of it.
The reason he's having such a tough time picking is because some of them are longtime friends, that we went to high school with, and then others are fraternity brothers.

I have to agree that this is silly. The usher idea is a good one if he's got spots for ushers. Otherwise, man up and pick the 6. I'd be grateful to NOT be in the wedding. I'd be the first to volunteer to get off that train. I hated being in weddings. It was more fun to be a guest and much cheaper.

Let them all be groomsmen. 2 guys can escort a girl. Not that crazy.

Wrong board.
And stupid question.
"Even sides" is the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. Put the people that are special to you in your wedding, and quit worrying about whether the number of guys matches the number of girls.
Most people find being in weddings to be a pain in the arse, so I don't see why you need a competition.

My thoughts, too. Perhaps a competition to see who DOESN'T have to be in the wedding? Losers have to stand up w/you, winners get to sit down.
ETA: as a female, I'd be nervous if my intended found this matter difficult to resolve. Mountains out of molehills and indecision/inability to make up his mind.....would make me go hmm.

God ya'll must have lots of time on your hands. Whatever happened to drawing straws? Those days were much easier.

Tell him to grow a set and make his bride to be find two more girls. Why should he have to eliminate people that are important to him?
Or just have two of the bridesmaid walked up by two groomsmen instead of 1.
