I've had this one for 3 or 4 years and it works great.

6 probes at once. Usually I only use 1 or two but when im grilling or smoking multiple meats at the same time it's awesome. Also has blue tooth capability and an app so I get an alarm on my phone when desired temps are reached.

Has a magnetic back as well, just dont do what I did the very first time I used it and attach it to the grill because then the back will melt and you'll have to tape a piece of cardboard to the back to hold the batteries in for the next several years.

this changes everything.

if you want a DIY route you can go with a heatermeter. But with how cheap other ones have gotten this isnt the best deal anymore. It was a great deal when all you had was the bbqguru for 400 bucks.

I use a Maverick dual probe... it's been reliable for years now.

Second on the Maverick, mine is at least five years old and still very accurate.

Thermoworks. Either the Thermopop if you're budget-limited or the Thermapen MK4 if you want the best on the market. I also have a Dot that I use instead of the probe that comes with the oven. They stand behind all of their stuff. I had a probe go out about 5 months after the purchase date. I called them and gave them my info. A couple days later they sent me with all three sizes of their probes.

Facebook is always watching...

I always know what people watch on YouTube by the stuff that shows up in browser ads. The family thinks I can read minds. They're not far off.

Not true. My dad smoked a beef tenderloin on the BGE for Xmas dinner. Had TWO therm units bug out on him during the cook. First one freaked out and started recording an IT of 250 degrees one hour into the cook. The second unit stalled out at 111 degrees. When I started asking questions as to why this is taking so long (my internal clock was going off), my dad goes and spot checks the tenderloin...155 degree IT. Ruined Xmas dinner.

Guess what he's getting from me next Christmas? A quality therm unit.

I have a cheap programmable Maverick with one probe. I needed a probe thermometer and this was the only thing they had at the first store I stopped. $20. When I double check with my Thermapen, the Maverick is always within one degree. The Rodney Dangerfield of thermometers.

I liked maverick as well. I think I’ve had mine for five years now.

If you have a kamado style smoker, make sure you remove the grate temp probes before doing a reverse sear. Lost several probes that way on accident.

Back to thermaworks, I use the Dot ($30) for leave-in, and it works great, too. It’s totally no-frills, though. One probe, no wireless, only 3 buttons on the whole thing. That’s what I wanted, though. My only issue with wireless is that I know at some point it’ll fail me once, and after that ruins whatever I’m cooking, I’ll never trust it again.

How?

I just got one this Christmas and love it so far. Only thing I was going to do different was have it connect to my ipad and leave it close outside and check through the app on my phone.
