Get yourself an offset spatula, it makes applying the icing much easier:

Amazon - $9

Looks good!

Looks good. My now long deceased grandmother use to make a great chocolate layer cake with chocolate icing and her thing was to take slightly over-ripe bananas and slice them thin lengthwise and lay the slices on top of the icing between layers.

That cake was to die for and IF it lasted more than a day or two, it only got better as the bananas really flavored the cake.

Give it a try sometimes to see what I'm talking about, you won't be disappointed.

Another pro tip for icing : ice the cake by your sink and keep the hot water running. Run your metal spatul under that water to keep it warm and as it cools off, stick it back under the hot water. It will make the icing very smooth.

That being said, you should be proud of that cake!! It looks delicious! I wish I had some!

Bonus points for having less room to make it than the galley of an old ship.

Your cake looks great.

I’ve had some small kitchens! It’s not easy to do what you did. Great work.
