Must purple cabbage ruin everything?

Is it just me, or has the incidence of this vile weed in standard restaurant fare ratcheted up? Has our society's demand for the stuff skyrocketed, or are we merely victims of some unknown vagary of the agricultural system that puts this before restaurant buyers at super-cheap rates and thus causes them to over-consume it?

Cole slaw and fish tacos are the only things where I regularly see purple cabbage.
What you eating?

I like purple cabbage, also? What's it ruining?

I feel the same about iceberg lettuce.

Today's hellish example is an Asian chicken rice box that is presented as sort of a quasi-salad. Not a low-end place. All natural ingredients, that sort of thing. Absolutely LOUSY with purple cabbage.
I have no problem with it in cole slaw.
Fish tacos, they often overdo it, but I get it.
I'm just starting to see it in all manner of things (even regular green salads).

Does it taste badly?
ETA: As an LSU fan, I'm partial to purple. Even purple cauliflower.

Yes. I think purple cabbage is disgusting. However, it also seems to have the property that bananas and cantaloupes have: if they are in something, then basically the entire thing tastes only like them. That's good if you like the ingredient in question, bad if you don't.

This is REALLY something weird to complain about.
I've never really had purple cabbage ruin anything of mine. But, then again, I don't order Asian chicken rice either.

I'm not sure what to tell you then.

I've never noticed it take over anything in flavor, myself. Do you eat cabbage at all?

I really like cooked cabbage (with the exception of the purple stuff.) Regular cabbage takes over a bit but not like purple cabbage.

so because you don't like it you think it's ruining everything?
if you're that douchey about it, ask them to remove it. or just grow up and eat it.

Yes. I've never come across someone who loves it so much that it should be included on so many things and in such quantity.

My policy is to eat dishes as the chef would have them served. It is the very opposite of douchey. I'm used to having things I don't like be simply a small part of a portion, whereby I either remove it myself or I just swallow it whole and don't notice it. This thread is about purple cabbage having moved into a new realm that supersedes my usual policies.
Thanks for the kind reply, though.

I think raw cabbage might not be your thing. I haven't noticed any increase in the use of purple cabbage recently. With the advent of bagged lettuces, it began to show up more in mixed garden salads, but that's about it as far as I've seen.

Purple cabbage is really good for you. Extremely low caloric food and it doesn't lose a majority of it's nutrients when cooked unlike green cabbage.
