Mulling back beer from Washington DC

I goto DC 2-3 times a year but usually don’t have time to run around looking for beer to bring back. DC has an interesting law that allows retailers to buy beer from anywhere and resell it. Drives the distro crazy.
Anyway, going the last week of this month and thinking about hitting up some local bottle shops and maybe Whole Foods.
Any suggestions? Was thinking about bringing an extra piece of luggage. My main bag is usually a garment page and will have a few tux’s and suits in it.

Not tryin, just saying not putting beer in there and take a chance of messing up my clothes.
Does anyone have any particular place to go there? Bottle shop places?

Shipping it back may be a better answer.

I’ve packed beer into my suitcase plenty of times and have yet to open to beer soaked clothes.
I don’t travel with a tux though

I use something like this which is not great for beer transportation

Gee. London Fog AND a tux! Go to the Bier Baron in Georgetown. Best selection in DC.

Edit and thanks for the suggestion. Not sure this is a bottle shop but looks like a place to go regardless.

Sounds like what you're referring to is 1 West Dupont Circle.
That's the place that gets posted around the internet with all sorts of rare beer on the shelves. But the price tag on all of it is pretty much secondary plus (sometimes 2 or 3 times secondary). It's criminal. I'd go just to look, I guess. But I probably wouldn't purchase. When I was making my drive north this summer I took a pit stop to visit in D.C.. I just hit Churchkey. It was excellent -- well curated draft list, and a bottle list that was equally (if not more) exceptional.
That doesn't really help you mule, though. I dunno, my car was full of a few cases of beer/bourbon so I wasn't thinking about adding more. Sorry.

I was there last year, did not buy anything. Prices were nuts

Have had plenty of mulled wine, have heard of mulled ales but never tried one, does not sound good to me.

I once checked a box I bought at target and shipped 50lbs of beer back from Fargo by just paying the $30 or whatever for a second checked bag. Bought bubble wrap at target too
