Which SEC state produces the best. I would say Georgia then TN. A fella I know in TN makes a great charred shine that's really good, but if you want the best, you get it in them Georgia hills!

Best I've ever had was from Maggie Valley, N.C. produced by the legendary moonshiner named Marvin "Popcorn" Sutton back in 2006.
I was at a motorcycle rally in Maggie Valley and he showed up with one of is guys selling his shine out of his vehicle. He easily sold $500+ on that one stop with pints, quarts and gallon glass jugs being offered.
Unfortunately, Popcorn got into trouble once again with the "revenouers" and took his own life in 2009 when he was found guilty of making shine and weapons violations and was to report to Federal Prison. He cranked up his vehicle in a closed shed and went out by carbon monoxide poisoning.
There's been several documentary films about the guy and he was a living legend up that way for his moonshine making ability and quality of product.

I have heard of Popcorn, but had no idea that he took his own life. Dang in the last thing I saw of him he looked 90 already.
Some clown swore by this moonshine out of N. LA and I gave some to a friend on Friday, Monday morning he said throw that shite away, I was mixing it with diet coke and woke up naked laying next to the pool the next morning. HA
It was so rough for real, made 2 batches of Apple Pie with it and dumped the rest.

Believe it or not, he was only 62 when he offed himself. That mountain life sure is an arse kicker for some I guess.
He looked just like a character out of a "Snuffy Smith" cartoon from the Sunday paper. He always had on bib overalls, a floppy hat, smoked a hell of a lot, had that long scraggly gray beard and walked around with a perpetual hump in his back like life was sure pressing down.
