There’s a whole lot of nothing that goes on at that place. I only go because it’s a couple blocks from my house and they don’t mind us bringing our dog inside, but that’s maybe 3 time’s a month on random weekend nights. The beer selection is crap but they actually have a pretty legit wine and liquor selection with a few different signature cocktails. A decade ago it would be a pre F&m’s spot or place to bring a date for a cocktail, now it’s pretty empty every time I go.

If you don’t mind cigar smoke but enjoy live jazz or folk, Dos Jefe’s is a fun bar in that area.

Don’t think it’s a college bar. More for young professionals

Yeah, it’s not as cool as maybe 10 or so years ago, but it’s not a terrible place to grab a cocktail.

Monkey Hill always had this phony pretentiousness about it.

It used to be the best college bar in NOLA called AT II's. Then a city councilwoman's daughter got busted giving BJ's behind the bar and she had it shut down.

Monkey Hill is good for shuffleboard, and that's about it.

Had some friends that lived a few doors down from this bar a couple years back. It was ok for what it was. A little neighborhood bar. We definitely drank a shite pile of whiskey in there over the years. I enjoyed seeing Luther Kent play in there as well.

Wasn’t it held up at gunpoint a year or two ago?

Sure was. I believe it might have been the same group holding up diners in a couple restaurants in that area as well. They caught the perps btw.
