Did you secure the OF reservation?

We did. Will be going for dinner in late September. We actually ended up getting 3 reservations, 2 for dinner and 1 for lunch. I honestly don't know how. But we chose one of the two dinners and released the other two reservations.

FWIW, lsupride87 is right. He wasn't trying to give an alternative to FL, just responding to my post and saying he prefers a different type of meal. He's right, it's all personal preference. But if the husband thinks he's going to have a nice, comparable meal to FL for a much lower price, I think he's wrong.

Now this I agree with

Someone may enjoy a meal more for cheaper than FL, but I dont think they will get a comparable meal for much cheaper. Anything comparable will be at the same price range I imagine

Went to Auberge and spent $600 on wine, 2 tasting menus, and tip. Meal and the view were both incredible but don't believe you will be saving much by choosing Auberge.

the fancy items and eclectic mixes at places like FL arent really my fancy.

Agreed. I haven't been to FL but have been to Noma and it was the height of fussy pretentiousness. The food was good but it was a horrible value. Within 2 hours I was at the falafel stand in Christiania.

FL closed for renovations in April of 2015. We lucked up and got a table right after they reopened as a lot of people tought they were still closed.

It was one heck of a dining experience. One of my kids did the vegetarian tasting menu. It was outstanding.

The following night, we wanted to go somewhere less painful in the pocket book and got a table at Bottega down the street. It was also very very good, at a fraction of the cost. They had a Dungeness crab pasta that I would definitely order again.

Also had lunch at Bouchon. Also reasonable prices and everything was well executed as you would expect from a Keller restaurant.

One a previous trip, had dinner at sunset on the balcony at Auberge du Soliel. Also a fabulous experience.

You are going to have a great time. Please post a review when you get back.

Cheers!

That was the total, with wine? If so, that's pretty damn cheap and FL will blow right past that.

To the previous posters, FL is the complete experience. Go, enjoy and soak it up.

And, when they ask if you want shaved truffles, the answer is yes. And expensive yes.

This thread just makes me want to plan another Napa trip.

Abita wanna go?

Also, don't you hate that you've identified yourself with such a shitty brand of beer now that you've had all those amazing NE examples?

Check out the French Laundry Cookbook by Keller from your local library. It will give you a preview of the deliciousness that will ensue.

I sure do Rob. And let’s plan that trip.

And I do hate it, but not as much as you hate not being able to get these tasty NE beers unless I’m nice enough to send them to you.
