Yeah. When i watch that show brewdogs, the 2 guys on there try to find craft beer "virgins" and convert them. It annoys me when the "virgin" drinks the beer, and as they drink it, the brewdog guys start telling them the flavors of the beer.
Just let the person drink the beer. Not everyone's palate is the same, and we all pick up different things from different beers. Let the consumer decide what it tastes like. Now if someone asks me, "what does it taste like", then you can be descriptive. But being overly descriptive kind of sounds like you are trying to show off.

Modern America. Where having good taste is something snobbish to be mocked and ridiculed.

It is being snobbish. I like how you feel persecuted about it. I'd call it "Modern America: where our first world problems are so lame, we have to invent shite to hold against other people...like the beer they drink." Craft beer drinkers are basically just another version of comic book nerds. FWIW...I'm a comic book nerd and craft beer drinker.
I don't hold what a person drinks against them, I do hold it against them when they refuse to try something new.

a pretzel necklace to cleanse my palate between beers
Shows how much I know. I always assumed they were people who intended on getting blasted and didn't want to look very far for a snack.

Once Dave (Pickerell (Maker’s Mark Master Distiller for 14 years) and Jimmy were at tasting. A guy got up and made a big show of swirling his bourbon in his glass, sipping it slowly and announcing that he tasted blackberries, winter fruit, leather and many other obscure flavors. Jimmy leaned over to Dave and said, “I don’t know about you, but I don’t put any of that shite in my bourbon!” Both then starting laughing hysterically, disrupting the tasting.

In theory, it's so they can clean their palates. In reality, it's so they can get attention. This is obvious by how many of the necklaces are still full by the end of the festival.

Me too. I figured it was because it's to hard to put beer nuts on a necklace.

what, in your opinion, defines "good taste?" or is it unequivocally subjective?
