This seems like too much water:

For this outlet trickle:

The grounds crown up over the filter edge before much is in the pot:

I stop stirring the grounds after they are incorporated, and you can’t mess with it after it crowns. Just seems like a water in water out issue. Or the filter just doesn’t pass enough water through it. Makes a mess when it tops the filter…which could (does) lead to a bigger mess if (when) it clogs the trickle.

Advice?

The only time I’ve had issues is if it’s not pushed all the way into the slot that the carafe fits in.

I just buy the mocomaster filters b/c they come in packs of 100, that way I keep it on a cleaning and descaling schedule of every 100 uses.

Have you used a descaler lately? Maybe you just have some buildup?

I fail to understand how this Moccamaster technology is any different than a cheap Mr Coffee. It's just a drip coffee maker correct? I've thought about getting a Moccamaster or Technivorm but I can't justify replacing my still functioning Cuisinart drip.

I am in the same boat. hard to justify a $500 machine when my french press works fine.

Just ran it through, which may be why I have such good flow through the machine.

It’s about water temperature and consistency of that temp…I think. I like that there’s just nothing to break and no clock to set and I like the access to the coffee in the filter so I can stir it when it starts the overpour.

Precise Brewing Temperature
Moccamaster heats water to the optimal range of 196°F to 205°F, which is ideal for proper coffee extraction.
Many regular machines don’t reach or maintain this temperature consistently, which can result in under- or over-extraction.

Even Extraction
Features a 9-hole spray arm that evenly saturates the coffee grounds, promoting uniform extraction.
Cheaper machines often have a single stream of water, which can lead to uneven brewing

I think they have either a 3 or 5 year warranty too.

It absolutely makes a difference. Like most of who have one, I weigh out and grind my beans as well.

shite, ground River Road beans taste better run through it. There are other options out there to choose from. The link is below.

I've never had that problem unless I intentionally let it steep by not fully engaging the basket

And when I do that intentionally, I then forget to get back to it before it's too late about 50% of the time

A different model has a switch to open and close the outlet filter, that would be nice.
