Miracle Fruit Experience, Pretty Cool

I work in the food industry, and we recently did an innovation session working with Miracle Fruit.
Long story short, it's a rare/expensive fruit that can make bitter foods taste sweet.
We ordered some of these tablets, experience below:
mBerry
We sliced lemons, limes, grapefruit, and had whole cranberries (unsweetened fresh).
You put the tablet on your tongue and let dissolve.
The lemons tasted like lemonade, the limes tasted like key lime pie, the cranberry like a dried cranberry and the grapefruit like pineapple- pretty cool experiment. I ate a whole lemon it was so good.
If you are looking for something cool to do at a party/dinner event, this should prove really fun.

Here's another place to buy the berry capsules: LINK
It's a pretty crazy experience. Basically coats your tongue/mouth and only takes in sweet tastes and no bitter.
Try some black coffee after dissolving one.

Maybe this would allow me to be cool and drink IPAs.

I've been meaning to try that for awhile. However, it sounds like most of the foods to try while flavor tripping would leave your stomach jacked up after gorging on them

The plant is relatively easy to grow in south LA. It's a tender tropical, so if you bring it inside for the winter, it will do fine. I mail-ordered the plant several years ago (less than $20), and it flowered & fruited after about 9 mos. Kept it alive (in a pot) for about 2.5 years, then an early cold snap got it one fall. It was an interesting experience to eat the berries: sweet limes were fantastic, sweet beer was absolutely disgusting, as were the meats (IIRC, grilled chicken & sliced ham). Mashed potatoes also very gross.

how long does it alter your taste buds?

How long does it last?
Sounds kind of cool, but if it lasts too long, it kind of limits the menu.

I chewed the raw fruit as single beans, and the effect lasted abt 7-10 minutes.

20-30 minutes for me.
Yeah, it can last this long. on average, seemed to be about 10-15 minutes of constant effect, and then it trailed off pretty quickly after.

We tried this for one of our kids birthday parties and it was awesome. The crowd favorite was limes.

Did the snozberries still taste like snozberries though?

I've always wanted to try this. Went ahead and ordered some. $15 for 10 tablets (20 uses since you only need half a tablet) wasn't too bad. Should be fun.
