I can't recall whether this was discussed, but this restaurant has taken a definite turn in direction by hiring Chef Pete Vasquez, former owner/chef or Marisol, which met it's demise following Katrina. I've never been to Mimi's, but some of you more eclectic diners may be interested in these reviews from another forum.

Loved that place. I wonder if he's still anti-crawfish?

I am looking forward to trying it - I go quite often with my dad but haven't been since the big change.

Don't know. He had some videos he was doing on youtube that were interesting and hilarious, recently. He was between jobs waiting to go to NO. He's gruff, sarcastic, trying to quit smoking and drinking etc..., but damn creative in the kitchen. The videos were really great.

Jesus. That place was an okay place to get the boring standards like veal parm, meatball and spaghetti etc... It now appears to be the most ambitious restaurant in Jefferson Parish. That is a huge change.

My gf lives out there and swears by it. She loved it before and now it's even better. I haven't been yet, but it gets good reviews.

He is going to scare all of the old folks away. That is ok, if they want to make money they need to go the direction they are going to get younger folks in the door and people who will be drinking wine.

I can't wait to try the place now.
