I just moved to the South Main area of Memphis and would like some good recommendations to frequent. Also I am a big Andrew Micheal’s fan so already have hit all of their restaurants before. Thanks for the input!

I like South of Beale on S. Main. Go to Ernestine and Hazels late night for a soul burger

Yeah, it'll be awhile.

Commissary for BBQ

Also, are you talking lunch, dinner, most nights, a couple times a week? I know few people from work that live downtown...

I don't think they know how to cook. Eat out pretty much every meal. Is that what you are wanting? Or just a Friday/Saturday night sort of thing?

Pizza at Aldo’s

Grecian Gourmet

Flight but you def need reservations for dinner. Lunch you can walk in.

South of Beale is pretty good. The Brussels sprouts are great.

Spindini

If you are paleo, keto or gluten free (or not opposed to those things) there is a place called Bedrock Eats and Sweets that is delicious.

Felicia Suzanne’s used to do a $0.25 martini lunch on Fridays. Check if they still do!

Automatic Slim’s has a good happy hour.

Brunch at Majestic (gets super crowded in nice weather especially)

There is a restaurant on Beale called Itta Bena (above BB King’s...either go up the stairs from the bar or the “official” entrance is stairs on the Second Street side of the building). Surprisingly quiet for being on Beale.

Flying Fish is a good quick meal. Fish tacos are good. They used to (maybe still do) $0.50 oysters on Sundays.

Good beer selection and people watching at Flying Saucer

ETA: look up Jennifer Biggs. She used to be food writer for Commercial Appeal and now Daily Memphian. Has eaten at aallll the places and knows what’s happening

Also watch for Downtown Dining Week in the fall. Will give you a chance to try a lot of places you might otherwise never go to.

I am single, love to cook but like a great meal. Puck Food Hall is surprisingly good for an every night type situation.

In addition to all mentioned I’m surprised no one has said Gus’ fried chicken. Also, I love hattie B’s.

I have not been to Bishop yet but will soon. Also Longshots under the Arrival Hotel has some creative food. Lots of bar food with an Asian spin and homemade sausages.
