Does anyone have one at home that they can recommend? Id like to get one to up roast, chops, cheese, maybe some homemade bacon. All boneless things like that.

I was looking at this one since it went up to a inch but it doesn't say how thin it will go.

I have a 10" Advantco from Webstaurant Supply for several years now. Looks just like the one you are looking at. It will slice as thin as I want. I've sliced paper thin Capicola and slabs of bacon right out of the freezer. I've used it a lot and no complaints.

I have one from Cabelas. It works for roasts, pastrami, jerky, etc. For light duty I am fine with it.

Thats good to know. I looked at some on there but what I liked about the one I linked is it goes up to 1" thick. I didnt see that on the others ones on there.

Hell, if you're cutting something that thick, just use a sharp knife.

The problem with many of the smaller meat slicers is not so much how thin or thick they can slice, but how big a piece of meat you can start with so the blade will cut entirely through it.

I found I had to cut some of my larger chunks of meat in half for the blade to cut from top to bottom of the roast.

Id like it to go that thick so I can keep the cuts even thickness. I have bought whole pork loins to cut into chops but my chops are woped and dont always cook even.

That was another concern is how big of a hunk of meat can I run through it. What size blade is yours? Id love to be able to run a slab of homemade bacon through it...10" enough...12"?

I forgot about Cabellas...they have one under there own brand that says ultra thin to 1". How thin is ultra thin

I've never tried to slice 1" thick but I'm sure it would be no problem. From the looks of all of them I'm sure they are all made by the same company in China. One thing you may want to check is it they come with a sharpener...mine did...
however I've not had to use it yet.

How big a piece of meat you can run is also determined by how far back the start of the blade is from the back of the sled.

My slicer was a gift from the wife and the blade is only 8 inches round and in truth, I hardly use it unless she comes home with a small chunk of meat for me to slice into sandwich meat. As for how thin my slicer will cut, let's just say you probably could read the paper through a piece of sliced ham. It will shave meat very thin.

As for bacon, I make my own and I cut it by hand with one of my very sharp, long bladed knives. I'll cut it thin for how the wife likes it and some of it thicker to suit my needs.

I looked at the Advantco but went with the Beswood on Amazon, had a little better price and free shipping. Great slicer, but bigger than it looks. Make sure you have the space. You'll also need a good pair of cut gloves to clean it.
