McDonald's Louisiana hot sauce - Japan

Never seen a hot sauce from Louisiana that thick.



Peppers, salt, and vinegar. That's the ingredient list for all of them.

TR Reid wrote a book in 1999 called Confucius Lives Next Door, about the experience of his family living in Japan for several years.

He said American fast food franchises would often have different versions of items, such as Domino's pizza with corn on it. He said his daughter, when they landed in NY on a visit home, ordered Mac-chao (spicy fried rice) at McDonalds to the puzzlement of the employees.

He also said that in Japan each box of KFC was signed by the cook, and the McD's had an employee full time to bow to each car entering the drive-thru.

He tried to order a small Coke at McD's using the Japanese word for small, but they didn't understand. He finally puzzled out that they used their pronunciation of the letters S, M, and L--essu, emmu, and erru (closest they could come to saying L)--to choose the size.

Have you got any good stories or experiences of that sort?

I had a great Pizza in Yokohama Japan and there was Tabasco hot sauce in the restaurant. Some put it on the pizza.
