I will be in Marksville this evening after a business meeting. Was looking to stay and have dinner. I am looking for a good steak and/or seafood. Any suggestions appreciated... I know the casino has Legend's Steakhouse and Big Daddy E's Cajun Grill and Oyster Bar. Anyone familiar with these? I know the Red River Grill across from the Courthouse closed; Did another restaurant open up in it's place?

Any info, opinions, suggestions appreciated...

TIA

The restaurant that took over the red river grill is simply not very good. Besides the casino you have the Mexican restaurant and Habibis. Habibis is a family owned Greek/Lebanese restaurant. I would recommend to go there and get the steak kabobs and fried cheese as an app.

Also Rocky’s tails and shells/Dugout in Bunkie has chargrilled oysters on Friday evenings and good boiled shrimp.

Hate to hear that. Used to love an occasional road trip down there.

I liked Porkbelly'sthe one time I went.

Think it was Maglieaux's. They have the original in Natchitoches, which has good reviews. Guess it couldn't make it in CoonAss country...

I’ve never been to Marksville, but I’ve read about Juneau’s. Not dinner (it could be), but you should swing by and get some cracklins. They look incredible.

Yeah Juneau's is simply a meat market with very good cracklin' and their boudin is some of the best I've had. They also have fried boudin balls and a good hogshead cheese too.

When I head up that way I usually can't get away from that place without spending near $350 just in boudin. I take orders from friends I've let taste it and most of them want 5-10 lbs. of it when I go. I fill ice chests with it to bring it back to N.O.

And a second on Durand's in Mansura. I've had their cracklin' too, and it is also good. And just farther down the same road, right across the RR tracks is Cologne's who also sell cracklin'.
