What is your Mardi Gras food/ drink? I’m starting to work on ideas for snacks, drinks, and food for the big weekend and Mardi Gras Day. What food and drinks do you make and take to the route for Mardi Gras?

So far I’m thinking Roast beef poboys, jambalaya, crawfish étouffée, some sort of finger food- stuffed egg rolls or sandwiches, I want to make boudin but looking for sales on pork. Still working on drinks.

Mardi Gras day: a huge order of popeyes

Leading up: Got some friends on the route that make traditional white beans and sausage and jambalaya.

Popeyes, king cake, beer, and liquor. That’s all you really need.

Breakfast type food if you’re going out there for the early parades

Yep.
I walk over to a friends house and get a bloody mary pretty early then head out to our spot. Someone from the family goes and gets a lot of Popeyes mid morning. Something about eating that yard bird on the parade route makes it taste better.

Usually another box or two shows up during the day.

After the parades we have either gumbo or red beans and rice and hot dogs for everyone who comes over to hang out waiting for traffic to clear up.

Lakeview grocery does a pretty good inexpensive fried chicken. I maybe scraping a few things as their Mardi Gras special cannot be beat! Example, for $25 you get 25 mixed pieces of chicken, 2 lbs of beans and 2 lbs of potato salad.
