Got a few hours to kill tomorrow night between kids soccer games at Mandeville High. Looking for a casual meal with a decent beer selection

Other than Old Rail and Barley Oak, any other places we should consider?

Fat boys pizza just opened right by Mandeville high.

That'd be my bet. Could catch some of the football games while you wait.

Ponchartrain poboys is close. Also mandinas.
Pyre is 30 minutes of traffic away
I’d stay on the west side of 90 to avoid some traffic.

Man I’d love to be the owner with “awful pizza” and have all my locations packed all the time. It may not be great, but it’s by no means awful. What are your top 5 pies on the Northshore sir?

OP, agree with the comments I would do La Carreta or the new Fat Boys right there on W Approach near MHS. Both good options to kill a few hours and watch some football.

These are much better suggestions, especially RP. They have legit good seafood.

George’s is a nice little Mexican place with TVs setup around you. Owners are great people

If you are taking kids, they would enjoy the Fat Boys pie.

I think Fat Boys is good, solid wings for a pizza place.

Wings are damn good AND the meatball appetizer is divine.

Pizza is OK, nothing special. Kids will enjoy the size of their slice.

Bistro Byronz probably has the best food/beer combo. The bar is a bit small tho. Hambone is good but it's not a place where I would hang out solo since there's no bar.

But I agree with other posters, basically every place in Mandeville is casual and most places have a bar where you can post up.

I know this is late for this request, but Cucina Cangemi is casual and consistently good.

Times is a good call

Rusty pelican is ok but it’s small and often overcrowded. If you’re going that far you might as well enjoy the lake at pats
