Need something nicer than Omaha Steaks but not necessarily top of the line.

I received two prime rib roasts from Kansas City Steak Company for Christmas. They were both 4 1/2 pounds each. One is still frozen in the freezer. The other I thawed, cut into BIG ribeyes and cooked restaurant style in the kitchen for a week. It was good.

I treat my employees every year to Boar’s Head products. You should give them a shot. They facilitate a consummate mail order operation.

Look up McGonigles in Kansas City. They do a great job, best meat market in the town.

They ship every Tuesday and that meat is awesome, hand cut great.

Go to a local butcher/meat shop and get it fresh. My parents gave me Omaha one time....nasty, imo.

Does anyone here have any experience with mail order Waygu steaks or Waygu burgers?

Go to your local butcher, Fresh Market, Rouses, etc and get prime Rib eye. I don't think Omaha steaks are any better. You can get very good choice Rib eye locally also. Learn how to pick out the one's with the best marbling.

I agree with the advice to buy locally but...they need to be delivered out of state. Hence the request for advice on mail order. Will check out the KC companies.

Chicago Steak Co is a nice mid range outfit, never noticed much quality difference from Allens but the price differential is significant.

Wagyu burgers

FIFY, and yeah I've ordered some from Costco online. I was just trying them out because the package was half off. I paid 80ish for 12 burgers (comes in 6 packs of 2), 2 packs of bacon, 12 buns and a container of truffle butter.

It was normally 150-160 I believe. Anyways, they were pretty tasty and I still have some left. Worth the money? Ehhh unlikely, especially at the normal price point.
