i would have taken pics if i had known it was going to turn out so good.

stolen from 'pioneer woman' but here's what i did:

- 1 stick softened butter
- 2-3 tsp vanilla extract
- 1c sugar
- 3 tsp cinnamon
- 7-8 pieces of bread (i ran out of 'icing' at 7)

you just mix that shite together until you have a brown paste. spread it on the toast from edge to edge

350 degrees 9-10 minutes
broiler 1 minute

it looks like it might be burnt but its not..its carmelized and perfect..top half of bread is the sauce, bottom half is still bready.

i used to make butter toast then put a couple piles of sugar/cinnamon on top and broil for a minute or so but this technique is so much more decadent & yummy.

Swap brown sugar or honey for the plain white sugar next time....or half brown sugar & half maple syrup.

CAD, I'll let you bash Amazon without recourse forever if you promise to never use the term "yummy" again

I'm a fan of Pioneer Woman's recipe.

LINK

2 sticks salted butter, softened
1 cup sugar (or more to taste)
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons vanilla extract (or more to taste)
16 slices bread (whole wheat is great!)

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Smush the softened butter with a fork. Dump in the sugar, cinnamon and vanilla. Stir to completely combine. Spread the mixture on the bread slices, completely covering the surfaces all the way to the edges.

Place the bread on a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes. Turn on the broiler and broil until golden brown and bubbling. Watch so it doesn't burn!

Cut the slices into halves diagonally and serve.

Yep, mixing the cinnamon and sugar and butter before putting it on the bread makes a world of difference. Sprinkling it on the bread itself just isn't nearly as good.
