Why omit truffle oil?
I don't know that I've ever had it, but the people on Chopped have a fit anytime anyone uses it. So I wouldn't put it in anything.

You have to boil water and grate cheese.

Make a bechamel and melt the cheese in it.

I like to have at least SOME buttermilk in the mix. So maybe 3 cups buttermilk and 2 cups Pet? Buttermilk gives a nice tang.

I like truffle oil in my mac and cheese.
Also, I like to braise short ribs and add that to it. You come when you eat it.
What I do:
2 tbs flour, 2 tbs butter. Sautee for about 5 minutes while whisking.
Mix in a bunch of gruyere
Mixed in cooked elbo pasta
Add salt/pepper/cayenne/paprika
Truffle oil goes wonderfully.

I gotta ask. What exactly is this stuff? What is its primary purpose?
Posted on 10/26/12 at 10:22 am to Ole Geauxt
Spanky, we didn't do it, so I have to ask. Did the Pet milk sour or clabber after sitting out?
Posted on 10/26/12 at 10:33 am to Darla Hood
nope, never did... at least not that i know of.. honestly i dont know that it would sit out a whole week, but it sure seemed like it. possibly because refrigerated space was at a premium back then.. if it wouldn't kill you, alot of food items sat on the back porch, unless it HAD to go in "ice box"...
must've been some type of cooking process that it went through..
even today, though i prefer half and half in my coffee, i have several cans of pet milk at the camp in the pantry for the times that i forget to carry h & h or when we run out... i appreciate the taste of it in coffee, reminds me of a simple black and white picture world,,,, but, i enjoy it with air conditioning..

Here's something from way back in my childhood.
Try a little coffee in your rice krispies. Coffee milk cereal is awesome! That's how my grandma fixed it for us.
