Lunch Specials - OPM

So I ate lunch today at the Overpass Merchant and had one of their lunch specials (maybe it's also a dinner special but it was on the board for lunch). It was a pho pasta with short rib and it was fantastic. The dish was unique and original and I was very happy with it until I got the bill. Anyway, it was 30$ which I was surprised by. Thinking everything else on the menu is 12-15$. My thought was they should've included the price or the waitress should've given me a heads up. Anyway, not a huge deal but I was curious on opinions on how this should be handled. I asked the waitress if the charge was correct and then suggested they include the price on the board.

No idea, but they do great specials. Breaux knows how to throw down. I wanted to get that tuna melt they also had on the board today.

This happened to me before, although I don’t remember where it was. I mistakenly thought the lunch special would be at least similar in price to other items on the lunch menu. Surprise! Ugh.

Yeah the price needs to go on the board in that situation. Glad it was good, glad you said something, hopefully they add prices for specials in the future.

Little Village used to do this. Went once and ordered the swordfish expecting it to be $25-$30. If I recall, it was $40.

TBH, I normally do to but I've eaten at the OP for lunch many, many times and I always order a special. It just caught me off guard and I was somewhat disappointed b/c I expected better from them. Also, I asked the waitress about the dish and she highly recommended it; definitely gave her an easy opportunity to mention the price in a non-awkward way.
