I estimate this is from 1990 - 1992.

Always is. One of the best seafood restaurants in Baton Rouge.

I have spent many days of my life in Sandpiper Cove, South Bay, Jetty East, and other condos on holiday isle, going back to the 80's. But I have never actually eaten at this restaurant. Is it that good?

I don't recall my visit from the 90s, but if it is anything like the Baton Rouge restaurant, it is very good.

Plus if it is still in existence today, that would indicate to me that it has been solid and consistent to withstand the test of time, and complacency has not set in.

It’s still there
Been going to Jetty East for years and always pass it. Never been though.

I find it laughable that Destin is overrun with people from BR/Laffy and there are so many Louisiana themed restaurants. When I’m on vacation I don’t want to eat the same shite I can get at home. But obviously it’s working.
Going to Destin next week and being an election year I fully expect to see political ads for Lafayette representatives being played on the video barge.

Well, Commanders Palace, Camelia Grill and Pat O’Brien’s didn't work out for the Emerald Grande area. They all closed down in less than 5 years.

The Destin location is where we ate Tuesday night. It is still good.

I’ve never been disappointed. Been going since Kevin opened it and still going once every year or two now. Even with the restaurant group owning it now, it’s still great. It’s still one of the best Destin restaurants in my opinion.

Good place.

We used to eat there often in the 80s and 90s when we used to stay at a house on Gulf Shores Drive right down the street from there.

Friend,

What a delightful contribution to the Food Board.

What caught me by surprise was how much the steak price has increased. Here are some comparisons:

Item..................1990.......2023.....% increase
Filet...................$17........$49......188
Gumbo..............$4...........$8.......100
Fr shrimp...........$13.5......$36.....167
Grouper men......$14........$37.....164
St mushrooms....$7.........$18......157
Oysters lag.........$8.........$22......175
BBQ shrimp........$8.........$19......138
Lump salad.........$8.5.......$29.....241
Shrimp salad.......$7.5.......$26.....247

If getting the best deal was my goal, I would get a cup of gumbo with an entree of BBQ shrimp or grouper meuniere, and would skip the salads. Considering that shrimp prices have remained the most stable of all seafood over the last three decades, I was surprised to see how the highest percentage increase with the shrimp. It does fit logically that the BBQ shrimp has increased the least percentage of all entrees.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

I use to live there from 1999 to 2005. I ordered the same thing every time. It was a stuffed fished cooked in some kind of paper type bag. That particular dish was so good tasting to me, but I wished I actually tried other things to know if that place was good across the board. I’m bad about liking something so much I just keep ordering the same darn thing.
