I am just realizing that I have not been there since probably before Covid. I never would have expected that crowd to populate that bar

It started a few years before Covid but definitely increased drastically afterwards. All coinciding with Neyow's big expansion

Doing the Frose's and stuff like that was a huge mistake

making it “white only” would have the same effect but oh no can’t do that

The problem is that keeps the good black people out. They still deserve a space free of trash. There's a much needed conversation on ghetto culture that needs to take place, but people get all worked up and label you a racist. BBG is in a tough spot. Going 30+ is a start, but I've seen Carnival Cruise videos of people over 30 going at it.

Last time I was in there was Mardi Gras last year, and it was pretty chill. Uptown parades were rolling, so maybe that siphoned off a lot of the crowd.

nobody “deserves” anything when it comes to private businesses. There is no such thing. Bayou Beer Garden is a private business they should be able to include or exclude anyone they want. This charade about age is nothing more than a work around

If black people cant behave like civilized humans then exclude them, period. That wasn’t white people trashing the joint and it quite honestly never has been

Before I dive in, this is a serious problem and it sucks they have to address it. And I agree it was a long time coming. But BBG/BWG hasn't been destroyed, over the past decade no matter what the crowds they have made TONS of money. Its a 2 problem issue:

1) Having an awesome outdoor expansion that is generally unsecured with lots of space to loiter.
2) A Sunday afternoon and evening crowd that has started to trend really young on the weekends.

First, I'm past my prime and I'm rarely there late evening. But in the past year I've watched Saints, LSU, World Cup, other international soccer, Pelicans games there, never uncomfortable (except for temperature), and I don't ever recall them carding. M-T all day and Fri, Sat and Sun before 8 pm its a local, very chill crowd with lots of private groups and parties in the busy season. They also draw a middle-aged to older black professional (who won't have any issue with the new rules) crowd at those times. I'm fine with the 20% auto-grat for a place that big as well, and they have a great bar food service system.

BBG will be fine, however they will have to card at the door and add more security for busy times, just like Tchoup Yard and Wrong Iron. Unfortunately, its the cost of being popular and doing business these days, but it won't break the bank for them.
