Had a great meal at The Beauty Parlor in Memphis a few months ago.

This. Also if we're talking really casual, Young Avenue Deli. Huey's is terrible

This is my opinion too. No better than the average burger joint IMO. I didn't want to offend anyone who likes it, though.

Deli Mexicana is spot on. I have not found a similar place in Louisiana

Probably one of the most over rated places in Memphis.

I enjoyed Flight - not the best food I've ever tasted, but again I liked the concept.

Pete & Sam's is BYOB, if y'all go there. Pretty good Italian food. The atmosphere is fantastic though.

I used to love Huey's, but that was back when they only had the midtown location. It was the best burger in Memphis by far. I guess I'm not too surprised to hear it sucks now that they've turned into a chain.

I think Huey's is just one of those places that is "cool to hate" - tends to happen when stuff gets more popular with the masses. It's a solid burger but it still a burger joint obviously. For those of us who are out of towners and dont go there all the time, it's very good

They opened one in Cordova near where I grew up. I need to check it out next time I'm up there. If it's even close to the original it's worth it. There's a reason it was voted Best Burger in Memphis like 20 years in a row.

To the OP, Belmont Grill on Poplar Pike used to be a great place for drinks after dinner. But be careful driving in Germantown. Really fricking careful.

I'm not sure I've ever eaten there sober.

It is really good bar food though. I used to love that place.

I can't vouch for other people's opinions but I thought their food plain sucked and they had some of the worst fries to boot. There is nothing 'very good' about the burgers, IMO They don't do anything special to them at all. I'm not from Memphis either so I don't hate it cause of the masses

Thank God y'all said it. I hate Huey's! I do not see the appeal. Yuck!

I love Pete and Sam's. I made the hubby(who's from Memphis) to go get Pete and Sam's pizza and toasted ravioli to go. We were in town to visit family for Christmas.

I really wanted to try Iris, but did not get a chance.
