Best I have ever had was made out of 3-4 day old krispy kreme donuts. Idk how it was made though

The trick I was taught about bread pudding was to mix the milk mixture into the bread. Smush it up in your hands like mixing burger meat.

My tip is to lightly toast the torn bread/bread cubes before mixing. Adds a nice toasty flavor & color.

I've got a recipe somewhere, just have to find it. I topped it with an almond rum sauce

Look on Facebook for the Cajun Ninja..He has a real easy one on there..
I also have had the Krispy Kreme donut bread pudding..Very good. I bet Buttermilk Drops would be good too.

Brioche or Challah are excellent options for bread pudding.

Cut large pieces & dry them out in the oven. As someone mentioned, allow the edges to toast a bit gives a great flavor.

Basically you are adding bread to a custard so allow it to sit for a while so the bread absorbs a good bit of the base.

Our basic ratio was 1/4 cup of sugar and 4 egg yolks per quart of cream. This makes a really luscious but not too sweet bp.

Lastvtip, baking it in a water bath will reduce the risk of over baking.

Good luck!

You really need to bake it with the pan sitting in water. You can use a small Pyrex placed in a larger one. Fill larger Pyrex with inch of water. It makes it creamy.
