Somewhere with a nice atmosphere, not too loud, intimate without breaking the bank.

Somewhere preferably uptown or mid city.

Somewhere that has healthy enough food i.e. a good piece of fish, chicken, good salad. Thai and Indian food are also acceptable.

Just looking for some good suggestions.

I had a damn fine meal there last night. Love the food there but the service can be slow as shite at times.

I had a crab and mirliton bisque that had three meaty crab fingers in it.
Then for entrée I got a monkfish wrapped in a bacon and some big grilled shrimp.

Wife had the always great French onion soup and the hanger steak.

I love that place. Don't think she's been.

It's definitely on the list. Top of the price range though. Not out of the question, but it takes a while to eat there as well.

Will stay as an option.

If ONE Restaurant is still doing their two course with glass of wine or dessert for $35 special, I can vouch that it is a great deal.

okay if Degas is a little too high, maybe either go "upscale ethnic" like La Thai or Ba Chi .. or go the nice bar w/ food route: Delachaise, Bouligny, Cure, Oak .. also burger choices: High Hat, Cowbell, Company Burger

Maybe not, well, most likely not the place to put this, but I don't do writeups or reviews on restaurants so I'll add it here.

Went to a place in Arabi for lunch today, Old Arabi Eats, and the place was legit. Had a pumpkin bisque which was really crisp and fresh. Also had a Turkey BLT (sans tomato, don't eat em like that) and WOW, it was good. Hot fresh roasted turkey carved off a whole turkey. Thick cut crispy bacon. Fresh Hand cut French fries as well. Huge sammich.

Old Arabi Eats,

Place is about 10 houses down from my house. Awesome food.

Best burger I've ever had came from that place.

So close to ordering a burger today but went with this. I have no doubt that I will be back there in the near future.

What else do I have to try while working down that way? Daily lunches, probably by myself or most. Any decent Greek food, craving it like a pregnant woman for some reason.

I know there isn't many Greek places in Chalmette, but if you want some daily lunches I would recommend Arabi Foodstore, which is on Friscoville (the river side).

Awesome poboys (especially roastbeef or potato poboy).

Plate lunches are also pretty good, usually have red beans or navy beans on Monday.

Spaghetti on Tuesday I believe.

Gumbo or etoufee on Fridays.

I'm not going to talk the place up too much because it was just my first trip, but have to say I was majorly impressed with what I had.

It was $18 out the door after a decent tip and no alcohol, but I felt it was worth it.

I never get out that way, but if I find myself in the area for some random reason I'll pull that place out of the file.
