Looking for a good Viet place to eat after picking up Dong Phuong KC

A few years ago I ate at Dong Phuong after picking up king cakes. Excellent Bahn mi and pho in the main restaurant. Are there any other places in that area that I should try over Dong Phuong? It doesn’t necessarily have to be in the east. It could be anywhere in the city because I will be driving back to Baton Rouge after dinner on a Friday night.

Dong Phuong is the best option in NO East imo. Bakery is great, but sitdown side slaps as well.

I hear Bao in ascension sells their king cakes. Call and make sure.

I’ve eaten at 9 Roses (or 7 Roses, I forget). It was in the FQ, and the original is in East NO, somewhere. The one in the Quarter closed, but original is still open. It was very good and had great reviews here on the board.
Edit-
It’s 9 Roses and located in Gretna.

You are correct but it's a shite show to actually get one there. Too much trouble and time. Easier to drive to DP. I have a pre order for pickup, but I hear they have a lot of them daily for walk ups.

The Pho Bang over there is where you should go. Just down the road.

There is a Vietnamese new year / food fest right there that starts Friday. That’s where I would go to eat.
