We had seafood two nights ago and steaks last night. I'm taking my girlfriend out to eat tonight and I'm looking for some recommendations. I'd preferably like to stay away from the quarter.

So avoiding seafood and steaks? What about Italian? Maybe Impastato's which will keep you far far from the quarter.

I do not know how you feel about driving but La Provence is a pretty cool place to go to if you want to try something out of the way. Also some chicks dig looking at the animals and plants in the back.

La Petite Grocery-Magazine
Carrolton Market/Boucherie-Carrolton area
Café Degas-Midcity/Esplanade

My wife and I have had great dinners at all of these restaurants. All would fit the romantic date/bday criteria.

What about a place with a good turtle soup?

Mandina's has pretty good turtle soup. Not sure how this board feels about them though. I'm sure cafe B does as well.

Alright so now I've narrowed it down to:

Lillette
Patois
La Petite Grocery
Palace Cafe

Scratch out Palace Cafe; LPG and Lillette would be my top 2, followed by Patois even though all three are really good.

The food is delicious.

Did he say he wanted a show? Or to be entertained?

It may be that availability of reservations will make the decision for you at this late date. Try the others on your list.

Yeah I didn't think you were going to get into LPG day of.

I would check:

Coquette
Compere Lapin
Patois
Herbsaint
Cavan

I checked Opentable and several of those have availability. Coquette, Herbsaint and Compere Lapin are all available. LPG has 930 available.

I mentioned Palace Cafe and someone said to take it off of my list. So now I have reservations at Lilette.
