Is this a good deal? I want to get a setup so next season I can do 1 or 2 sack boils for the family.

Looking at the 80 quart with the double burner.

My burner fell apart one day back in April as I was cleaning the crawfish I already purchased. Due to COVID restriction Lowes was the only place I had access to to buy a burner. This was the only burner available. It is sturdy and well built. It takes forever to bring my 100qt pot to a boil though.

FWIW, I bought a new setup a few weekends ago. Got a 120 quart aluminum pot with 4mm (about 3/16") thick with lid and basket and a double jet burner for $220 at my local hardware store. I can boil 2 sacks or crawfish or 98 crabs (with plenty room) at once.

I got the 100 qt one from academy this year. Only did 2 boils but it worked great. The notches for draining are really clutch.

FYI the 100 qt is like $180 at academy.

Do you have the double jet? Takes me 15-20 minutes. I did replace the regulator with a bayou classic 30 psi. The one it comes with is 10.

I never used the 10 psi one so I can’t compare, but the 30 psi cranked to jet fighter volume works great. Just gotta hose down the tank or set it in a tub of water.

I have a R+W works cooker that works great but it sells for around 700 I think.

If a single jet, use a larger drill bit and drill out the hole in the jet. My wife bought me a burner and it was pitiful as far as putting out a good flame for heating things up. I took off the brass fitting on the burner and used a drill bit to enlarge the hole and all is good now.

This will certainly increase the btus much quicker than increasing pressure, but will also waste a lot of fuel. Of course, you might not care as long as it speeds up the boil.

The best approach is to get a burner that's rated for enough btus to meet your needs.
