Le Freak
Le Freak is another memorable beer for me. Back when i was doing my best to try every single beer available (before all of the local breweries), i grabbed some le freak from Marcellos' when they used to be located near the bulldog. Le Freak had a flavor, like a mix of bazooka joe bubble gum and those wax vampire teeth you'd get as a kid at halloween. Thinking about it now, pretty sure that was the brett in that beer.

Racer 5 IPA was also a great beer from that 2009-2013 era.
In my opinion, that 4 year stretch was the peak of IPAs.

Another beer that i would like to have again but stopped buying once it was available. Along with ballast point, and stone brewing. Only thing we get from Stone now is their hazies, which like SN, i don't think they do very well, either that or they don't hold up during shipment.

I don't know about snobby, moreso that i just got accustomed to the taste and wanted something new. That is pretty much, the craft beer industry as a whole. If craft beer "nerds" were content with one beer, one taste forever then we'd all be drinking miller light or some other mild beer.

Though sublimely was brought back a few months ago for a limited time.
Ballast Point Sculpin was my favorite west coast. Can't get it locally anymore.

Great Beet. I have not seen much of it either in BR. My taste changes like a wave. Envie is my favorite hoppy beer at the moment. But it is probably more of an APA than an IPA

I don’t think even a resurgence is needed, nor do a dislike GOOD hazy IPAs. It just sucks that the store shelves are overwhelmed by them, and you get a brewery like Sierra Nevada that made really good West Coast pale ales and IPAs seemingly now ignoring those brews and going all in on their hazy stuff. I guess it’s selling better, or they wouldn’t do it.
At least it seems the trend of throwing fruit and yogurt in IPAs seems to have subsided a bit compared to a couple years ago. Thank God.

Seeing a lot of "cold" IPAs out there both locally and in wider distribution. A lot of them seem to a have a hop profile closer to West Coast.

Cigar City, Jai Alai IPA. I have yet to see it in the PNW.

It seems that "smoothie IPA's" and "Smoothie sours" has tailed off. Diabetes stouts are still hanging around, however.

It started happening before the pandemic. I was in Portland, Or 5 or so years ago and many breweries had west coast ipas. One place had 7 or 8. In Dallas, most breweries do at least one west coast with many doing 2 or 3. Manhattan Project Hoppenhiemer and Succession Plan are both great west coast ipas.
