What should I expect to pay this weekend for live crawfish in the Houston area? I am looking somewhere that has a field run of medium/larges for $2.50 a pound.

Just curious, but if you did call around as you say, why are you axing us?

If you called around, why are you asking us? Wouldn't the places selling them know the price better than anyone here?

Because I'm curious what a good price for live crawfish is right now. A lot of people on this website are from Louisiana and seem to be in tune with what is a good price at current times and what is not. Didn't realize this would cause some much commotion and confusion.

HEB in Austin has them for $2.75 lb so I imagine Houston is probably less. I'd try there.

In Laffy right now, a mixed field run will run you about $1.50 to $1.75. I can get Grade A Select for about $2.25 to $2.50.

Don't know about Houston.

HEB in Summerwood is 1.97/lb. Not sure of the specifications of their sacks, but they are always good when I get them from there.

eta
1.97 seems to be the standard price for all HEB locations.

New Orleans:
Restaurant Depot:$1.28/lb
Rouses: $1.49/lb

Does that help you in Houston?

Thanks. That's all I was looking for-just curious for comparison sake.

I have seen HEB at $1.97 out by us too. If they have pretty decent crawfish then I might just go ahead and buy them there.

You can also probably bring a net out to Cypress Creek and get as much as you can carry.

I believe this guy.

But isn't HEB LA crawfish? They have Traw Landry on the commercials and everything...

Good prices in Louisiana will be different than good prices in Texas. Were you dropped on your head as a child?
