Did a search (from my phone), but didn't see a whole lot. Saw Darrel's (I think) listed, anything else? Not necessarily looking for fine dining or upscale casual.

TIA

Tony's pizza (pizza, sandwiches), Mazen's (seafood), and El tapatio (messican). The boiled crawfish at Seafood Palace are usually good.

Darrells
Tony's Pizza
Coyote Blues (or Casa Manana if you prefer "non chain" Mexican)
Steamboat Bills
Luna
Le Cafe (inside L'auberge and open 24 hrs)

Darrell's for the Darrell's Special, Casa Manana for the margaritas and queso, Pronia's for the sandwiches, Nina P's for the view.

If you're going for dinner, I'd say hit up Luna. If you decide you want upscale casual, you can't go wrong with Mazen's, but Pujo Street Cafe and Harlequin are pretty good too.

The shrimp poboy at Darrell's is 5000x better than the Special. The Special is so overrated it's not even funny. GET THE SHRIMP.

Their BBQ poboy is great too if you need a change from the shrimp. They make their sauce in house and they smoke the meat at home in the garage

i wouldn't say its overrated, but it wasn't up to par last time i had it (about a month ago). the roast beef was extremely salty.

to the OP, if you are undecided, get the special and add shrimp

The view at T-coons in Laffy is as good or better, without the Lake Charles Texas twang... Just saying
