The wife has made reservations tonight to celebrate my birthday. Very excited as it's going to be our first time dining there. Any must-have items there? Is it as dressy as places like Commander's? Wouldn't want to look out of place with nice pants and a button-down shirt.

Thanks in advance for the recommendations.

You'll be fine. The burger is supposedly awesome but I never want a burger when I eat there. I haven't ordered the same thing twice and I always enjoy it. Have fun.

I can't remember what I had, but it was a daily special and delicious if that helps

you would not be out of place in pants and a button down. there will likely be guys in shorts, but that's just about like any restaurant in NOLA.

The burger is indeed very good.

I'm a big fan of their braised short ribs and the shrimp tagliatelle if they have it. Crab beignets are hyped, but skippable.

As far as dress.. You'll be fine in slacks and a button up. Enjoy! It's one of my favorite spots in town. Happy bday

Thank you guys. Sounds like we can't really go wrong with anything on the menu. I heard the head chef there will be on the upcoming season of Top Chef so I'm sure everything will be delicious.

Went last night and had a great meal. Here are some thoughts in case anyone cares.

Got there a little but after 7 and were seated right away despite being early. The restaurant looks great and got a nice table by the window overlooking magazine. We thought about getting a table outside since the weather was so nice but finally decided against it.

Following R2R's recommendation, I had the braised beef short ribs with spicy cucumbers and fried peanuts. Best thing I had all night, the meat just melted in your mouth and the cucumbers gave it a little kick without overpowering it. The wife had the hand-made spaghetti with crab and arugula and it was also delicious; nothing beats fresh pasta.

Almost every entree sounded delicious but I finally opted for the paneed rabbit. Urinetrouble recommended it and i couldn't recall ever having rabbit, so I went for it. It was very good although a tad oily. The portion size made up for it though as it was noticeably larger than any other plate we had that night, including my wife's entree. She had the fish special which was grouper topped with crab.the fish was great but she wished she had a little more for the price.

We finished our meal with a couple of desserts. I had the butterscotch pudding and the wife chose the peach upside-down cake. Felt strange ordering pudding at such a nice restaurant, but I got to admit it was a damn good pudding. Was served in a small mason jar, which was a nice touch. My wife's cake was also good and was served with a really good orange blossom ice cream.

Overall, we had a great time and would definitely go back. The plates are a tad expensive for the size (other than the rabbit), but it's hard to complain much when the food is of such high quality.

Anyone that orders a burger at a restaurant like la petit is wasting there money.

Its understandable to order a burger at a restaurant like Luke because their other food sucks

I don't see a problem with ordering a burger there. Next time I'm in the burger mood I'm gonna go sit at the bar there.

I'm the same way. Think it's a mark of a good restaurant. Always tweaking the menu.

They have some of the best short ribs in town. Great order, they usually have a different preparation every time I go.

I don't think ordering a burger at LPG is some faux pas.

Great call on the butterscotch pudding. That's my favorite dessert in Nola.. Forgot to mention it but looks like you steered yourself to it anyways. Did it come with a pecan madeleine or the espresso cake? Nice review! glad y'all had a good time. I'm gonna get that rabbit next time

The menu online said it came with a Madeleine, but it actually came with some Benne wafers. Never heard of those before; they looked like very thin cookies the size of quarters. Gave the pudding a little crunch to add texture. Perfect ending to a meal!

The crab beignets are out of this world.

Son had the burger, it was delicious, the ketchup, the bun, everything was a hit.

Off the menu now, but the Osso Bucco is incredible there.

I think they're fine at LPG. There's a mix of dress there in my experience.

They're not gonna turn you away. But you will have to deal with your own shame.
