Go to Carnival Mart and get yourself a king cake from Randazzo's.

It's a big donut, not a King Cake. It's ok if you like that sort of thing, but it is not a King cake in any way.

nothing wrong with that in my book, and no I am not a cop. Sometimes you gotta step away from the traditional and try something new

Trying something new is fine, but that something new is not a king cake just because a donut shop calls it one. It's still a donut.

Kleinpeters, you can only get them at zeeland street market. They don't get many and they usually sell out before 10 but they're damn good.

They are supposed to get them everyday, Monday the guy did not show up. If you ask, they will order one and hold it until you can pick it up. I ordered a large cinnamon yesterday, picked it up at 8 this morning- best breakfast in years.

A donut covered with green, yellow and purple sugar is not a King cake

a bagel covered with green, yellow and purple sugar is not a King cake

an angel food cake covered with green, yellow and purple sugar is not a King cake

One thing I admire about the French is that they take food labeling seriously, so you know what you are buying. If we did that here there would be standards for advertising products correctly, a poboy, a king cake, gumbo would be according to the traditional recipes. You can sell bastardized versions, but you have to call it something else.

i.e. this is a big fricking donut with green, yellow and purple sugar on it.

Have you got one from Jays?

Sure it doesn't dry out like most kind cakes after two days. But it is the best one I've tasted. So since it doen't dry out the second day, maybe its not a king cake.
