What's different than that Soda stream thing that's been out for years?

The way it carbonates and it comes out cold. It's a much more effective carbonation system, so it tastes like regular soda. Sodastream sucks balls pretty hard, might as well just use a small tank filled with restaurant quality CO2 and tube it up to a carbonator tip and cap it on your own bottles. Same effect, just much much cheaper.
The Kold is way too expensive though, it's cheaper to just go to the store and buy bottles/cans which still taste better.

I started a thread on this couple months back. I ended up not getting one, but I still may.

This sounds like a great idea, other than the fact that the pods are $1.25 for an 8-oz soda...I know they take up less space than cans, but that's an awfully high premium to pay over a can for a little extra space.

The machine is massive, what you lose in fridge space is more than taken up on your counter.

I've had a sodastream for a while, and the directions specifically say to use cold water when carbonating. I have 4 of the bottles, so there's always a few in the fridge getting cold. And I don't pay for the sodastream CO2 refills. Bought a small tank for paintball guns and get it refilled at Dick's for $3. Amazon has an adapter for the normal tanks to make them work in a sodastream. I think a bottle of syrup is around $6-7 and will fill up over a dozen liters of soda. No way I'm paying over $1 for 8 oz.
