How long will a keg keep after it has been tapped? We have one left over from an engagement party this past Saturday and wondering if it will be good to use Saturday. It’s been in a walk-in fridge. TIA

We got a keg for a house party in college. I think we tapped it on a Thursday and didn’t stop boozing on it until Sunday.

About 2 weeks. One week will be absolutely good to go again.
May taste a bit off, but nothing anybody would notice if you didn't tell them.

Why?
Correct me if I’m wrong here, but I think he wants to drink it/finish it off.

It depends if it was tapped with a hand pump or on a CO2 system. Hand pump will cause the beer to go bad. Depends what the keg is as to how quickly, but hand pumping adds oxygen, which will begin oxidation. If it was pumped using CO2, beer gas, etc., the keg isn’t really going to go “bad” assuming it stays in refrigeration.

Agree. Hand pump will start tasted bad after 12 hours.
CO2 system can last months if properly maintained.

This is all true.
Using a hand pump tap just uses regular old air to pressurize the keg, introducing oxygen and whatever else. Oxidizing the beer can cause it to taste stale and like cardboard really fast.
Using a CO2 system and the beer won't have that problem, and will be good for weeks if not months and sometimes years depending on the beer.

All true, but if you tapped it with regular air, it'll still be drinkable after a week in a fridge.
Like I said, may just taste a tad off.

If it was kept cold and not untapped it will be fine.

Does the keg have the same special liner inside?

Get yourself a 6-pack of good beer. Finish that off first and you won't care about the old keg beer tasting off.
