Agree that the calamari doesn't measure to the other apps, but it wasn't "bad", just not as good. They do fish very, very well.
Parking....? It's in BR...anything involving a vehicle is FUBAR.

I did as well and not gonna lie I was still hungry after that small arse portion. If your a foodie type of person yes you will like it but your wallet and belly will be empty after. If your not into the whole small portion foodie scene you won't like it
This is code for I'm fat as shite and need a buffet to be happy with portion size.

It's a place where you share an app, or split a side, with a companion, in addition to your main course, if you're hungry. Their portions are fine....and I can still eat like I'm 26, some days.

I went a few weeks ago and had the scallops, they were outstanding.
Maybe I'm just not starting with quality scallops, but every time I cook them at home they end up more rubbery and tough as opposed to the buttery texture I got from the scallops at Kalurah.
And it was filling enough, although we had split a few appetizers beforehand.

Yea we didnt have a problem with the portion size at all...

that's because seafood counter scallops at the mega mart are soaked in a preservative solution that affects their texture. Restaurants can get day boat scallops which are not adulterated

If I was BetR I would start towing anybody that parks on their side of the street.

They have been for years during business hours.

We were actually encouraged to park in the BetR lot... Needless to say i wasnt doing that. We had to sit outside til someone left

If I was Bet-R, I'd be figuring out a way to monetize that parking lot. If they charged $5/night per car they would likely fill that lot up most nights. Even if it's a pay per space honor system thing most people would put up the money.

Without a doubt. At 730 on a monday there wasnt a single spot at Kahlura but that BetR lot was empty. And that was with the restaurant at about half capacity. I bet its a shitshow on the weekend
They will have to figure something out or thats gonna hurt their chances

I used to live on Hollydale and would go to Bet-R all the time, I never saw that lot full. Even if a few straggler vehicles were left overnight it's not going to hurt their business.
Oh well, not my property.

Like you said...$5 a car. Win-win for everyone

This is true. Sadly is they treat gulf shrimp the same way.

my understanding is that shrimp are flash frozen onboard in a brine, no chemicals added. the processing of scallops is more of a chemical soak without freezing
I could be wrong though

So where can the average consumer get unmolested scallops?

Or a grown arse man. I'm happy with just about every single restaurant I go to when it comes to portion size. I'm just commenting on my experience. If I tried something else maybe I would have felt different. Is that ok with you sweetheart?

4 scallops is pretty typical for an entree in most places
Posted on 3/7/17 at 11:20 am to gmrkr5
The parking isn't ideal in the overpass area, but it isn't impossible. I noticed they added an extra sign, but still I don't think Duvics actually tows. Too many people get drunk and leave their cars overnight for them to do that. And all underneath the overpass past Duvics (off Christian St) is fine to park in. You might have to walk 50-100 yards, but that's not a big deal.
This. I've never seen 5+ scallops served at any restaurant before. This must have been his first time ordering scallops.
