I have family coming up to visit for the holidays, and we'll be having Thanksgiving lunch (or dinner? Haven't decided) together. While starting to put together the menu, grocery list, etc., it all just sounded exhausting and time consuming. Given the little time they'll be in town, we decided to just outsource the majority of the cooking rather than spend a lot of time cooking and cleaning.

Turkey, ham, stuffing, rolls, and pies are all ordered and will just need to be picked up. Going to still make a couple sides, but the VAST majority of the work is now off my plate, so to speak.

I realize on this board it will be looked down upon, but I have to say it's such a relief to not have to worry about all that this year.

One week until Turkey Day, baws and bawettes!

FWIW, we ordered a smoked turkey and ham from an excellent BBQ place, and the pies, stuffing and bread are all coming from arguably the best bakery in town. We didn't order through Boston Market or some crap like that.

I don't look down on it. I'm short on time this year and have been making some side dishes that could be frozen. It's been difficult. We are having someone else make the turkey and one of the sides. I'm good with that. Sounds like you're going to have a stress free meal and good times with your family. That's really what's it's about.

Nothing to be ashamed of. Some people enjoy cooking like myself. It's what I look forward to during the holidays. But if you don't like cooking for large groups, then yeah, outsource it if you can.

AbitaFan08......Sounds good to me...for a large gathering coming over to the house...there's nothing wrong with outsourcing holiday meal items (especially the turkey) from known good and reliable sources. I do this frequently. Also when a guest asks if they can bring a food dish for the for the serving table...I always say yes...I say bring whatever they want that is their family favorite...I don't keep track of who brings what...it always works out and we all have a good time with an abundance of really good food.

Smoke Shop

We ate there yesterday for the first time! We were at Home Depot in Assembly for a bit and got hungry...we were leaning towards Zo (that lamb chili, tho) but neither of us had ever been to Smoke Shop so we decided to try it out.

The turkey was great and I loved the pimento mac & cheese. I'll catch some shite for this, but the ribs at Redbones are wayyyyy better

Solid move deferring the cooking to someone else. Thanksgiving's fun when you can just drink wine and eat food and not have to stress.
