Just curious on some OT'ers opinions of places to eat/drink in the Prarieville area?
On a Friday night where would you go for a few casual drinks, I've seen French Quarter Daquiris, Spankys, Roux, Charlie Browns from the road. Wondering about a few local favorites as far as dinner/ lunch is concerned as well. TIA

My in-laws live out that way and they seem to like On The Half Shell. I've been there once and it was pretty good. Likely to be very crowded on Fri nite.

Whats your kind of crowd?
I am quite familiar with the locations which sell food and cold beer around here.

I can have a good time pretty much anywhere. We moved out here this week actually, it was time to move out of Baton Rouge, my wife and I are in our late 20's, our first son is only 7 months old, so usually we only go out now when one of the grandparents are in town.
Definitely need to find a good Mexican joint, La Carreta was a go-to for us once a week at our old place.
Most of the time I will just look for a relaxing place to grab a few beers and watch a game, maybe a place with some live music every now and then. If we were going out in BR the Bulldog or Chimes were usually the kinda places we would hit up.

Las Palmas is good if margaritas and messican food are your thing. Margaritas are mega cheap on wednesday nights.
On the half shell has some live music some nights. Good food as well. There's a sammy's coming up on the corner of 73 and airline. Griffin Grill is a good place to pick up lunch.
The cottage is a cool place to drink if you're good with the cowboy crowd. Southpaws has some variety and often live music. Southdowns is not a good place to go. Spanky's also has live music occasionally, but it gets invaded by the affliction crowd sometimes.

LaCarreta's is 20 minutes away, Chimes East is 15, Bulldog 25 or so. The wife and I are in your same position sans the kid and we usually choose to go to BR if we want any of the above since Pville is lacking for anything close to that.
We do go to Roux for a drink or night cap and usually they have a decent crowd on Fri/Sat/Sun with a acoustic performer. Bacchus is a decent choice right down Highland.
Rotolo's patio is decent for after work and bringing a young kid usually isn't a problem. You can almost always request whatever sports on one of the TV's and beer specials during the week are the best around. ($3 pitchers of micro's on Tuesday)
Can't speak to the daiquiri bars other than the AP loves them some daiquiri's for some reason. Guess I didn't get that gene.
Rocco's is always dead, Frank's isn't worth the trip, Charlie Brown's is aight, Half Shell will work in a pinch but Tommy's is better for seafood.
Maxwell's, Albasha, John Michael's, Griffin Grill are others that we visit on a regular basis.
Can't help too much with Mexican because I think all of it taste the same no matter the price.

Pville needs a place The Bulldog or The Chimes. There is really nowhere out there with a good beer selection.

Mi Padres is our go to Mexican place in prairieville. Roux wine is a pretty cool place to hang out. I'll also stop at spanky's for a drink. Agree with Tommy's for seafood. Closer to Gonzales but Kamals is pretty good Greek and Lebanese. Other than that I like to pick up someone from Chris's specialty meats and cook at the house.

You think the addition of single restaurant/pub is going to generate a surge in growth beyond what is already occurring?
Tell your neighbors to stop cashing in their chips and selling their land to developers of mundane suburban sprawl.
