I grew up in the area and remember when the corner McDonalds was all that was there really. I remember Prytania too.

Now with the Chimes on Coursey, we have about all we need.

nooley's, mirror, and sazerac's are before my time out here .. believe it or not, godfather's left its old spot, moved on coursey next to walmart, but has since moved back to its old spot ... tex mex cafe was serving food on paper plates at the end of days, fwiw ..

you ever been there, andouille ?

Yes, but my wife was in a bad mood and I didn't get a chance to enjoy it. I'll be back. I am more referring to the general philosophy of avoiding the mundane and ordinary and looking for something different.

i'm not really a major chain vs. non-chain person .. but if i had my druthers .. i'll go to a place like ronnie's ribs before i'd go to something like chili's or applebees or something .. i'll pay less, get better food and get unique food ... all of the chains have the same fricking thing on their menus almost across the board ... sure, some have a dish or two that is pretty good .. but i like to eat local when i get the chance ..

The owner of Alladin Cafe's name was John and I think his wife's name was Sonya. I heard back about 15 yrs. ago they moved to Arizona to open a Lebaneese Restaurant there.
