The consensus is also that the Highland location is not representative of the rest. The ends you go to to antagonize the northern posters is astounding. And stupid. Give it a rest. You're painting with such broad strokes that it makes you look stupid and childish.

The way people up there pine over that mediocre pizza place is depressing.

I've only been there once for takeout several years ago (2009 maybe?)
I thought it was fine.

Never had any problems

Well by no means am I defending him but I've been to three of them over the last few years. BR several times, Longview and Lake Charles and while Longview was ok all three were very different from the others and the BR location is an abomination.
Now having said that- the ends some of you go to to defend this place is astounding. While some Monroe locations or Shreveport or wherever might be fine it is apparent none are alike and several are not worthy of the name. Which leads me to why would "Johnny" who is fond of his pizza allow this to happen to other locations regardless of franchised or company owned? I mean it is his name on the door so you would think he would take a bit more pride in it- especially since he did this once before in the 80's and it almost ran him out of business. And for those of you that frequent the place- it seems all would let the guy know that while Monroe might be fine- the BR location blows and you might want to take a look as to why.
If a vehicle in my fleet is not being driven properly or my personnel isn't performing properly, I appreciate people bringing it to my attention so I can correct the problem. BR location has been pretty bad since it first opened at least in the several times I've been and to the point I won't go back. I'll call Johnny tomorrow.

I'm not really sure what the issue is with Johnny's down south, but I can tell you that ours up here in NELA are usually pretty spot on. They give extra cheese when you order it, extra meats, etc.
I'm actually very picky about my pizza, and it usually meets mine and others I know expectations. But here's where my area is different than yours, we don't have the options that you guys down south do. In NELA, it's Johnny's or Little Ceasar's because Dominos and Pizza Hut aren't even worth considering. Yes, I just said that Little Caesers is the next best option up here. Hell, me and my wife go bonkers when we see a Mellow Mushroom on trips out of town!!! For some reason unique italian joints just don't do well here. My family LOVES different pizza toppings and options. We even got on a Papa Murphy's kick for a while when it was here in West Monroe, but it closed after a few years. I would love to see an old style italian joint with brick-oven style cooking, but man I'm telling you it would not get the support. This place is just obsessed with Johnny's!! I think the obsession has about 50% to do with "it's solid and hits the spot" and 50% "it's a staple of the NELA community and it's just part of our culture" kinda thing.
FYI, Monroe actually does have some good places to eat. Now West Monroe?? It is chain restaurant hell, these folks have the worst palates in America!!

Nonna serves the best pizza in NeLa, and likely some of the best in the state.

The ones outside of NELA are franchised, which means Johnny doesn't own them. This is the root of the Civil War pissing match here. Anyone that says any one of the NELA Johnny's Pizza House locations are the cats meow of pie joints needs to have their gums slapped out of their head.

Same here. Given the strong negative opinions so frequently expressed here, I can only conclude that Johnny banged a lot of people's moms.

I don't support Bahr, dude is shitty and shady.

First I've heard of that. Got a link?

I agree with best in NELA, but I certainly don't think it would even be top 10 in the state.

I've heard from more than a few people that he's a bit of an arrogant douche. I've worked in my fair share of kitchens, and I'm pretty sure he isn't different than any other chef in that regard.
The only time I've ever met him I found him to be a bit off putting. Don't know how you link that.

Well he may not own them but it is his name on the marquee and he gets franchise fees and royalties and a franchise typically is held to the same standard as the mother ship.
My point is why would he let that happen and hurt his brand? Specifically since he did essentially the same thing 20 or so years ago.

I would imagine the same thing would occur if Fleur de Lis opened a dump anywhere else in the state. People in the respective city would wonder wtf was up with BRs taste buds.

Must have been an off night. I have no problems with service or food at Johnnys on Highland. Glad they finally have Bud heavy now.
