Just country food, as I recall. It's fine but nothing that knocked me out.

It used to be highly regarded, years ago. I had a friend eat there in the past 6 months and said even without the drive it was nothing remarkable. The drive knocked it down a couple of more notches...

It's gone down since taken over by the new owners some years ago, sadly. At first, it was okay, but I've eaten there within the past year and it wasn't as good as it used to be.

The oysters and shrimp grand central is a very rich dish, but tasty. They were still doing that original dish well. I had oysters rock and sent them back because they were oysters baked with something similar to spinach madeline on top. Yuck and I like spinach mad. The crawfish bisque has always been good, but something was wrong with it, as well. Sent that back, also.

I was told the usual chef was out and that the dishes weren't made as the chef makes them. That was odd to me. Don't they have their recipes down pat for whoever is cooking?

The fried seafood is fine or it was. Should be a safe bet.

There's a good salad with hearts of palm.

I love the atmosphere of the place and have gone there a gazillion times, so I was sad to have less than quality food there.

I think Madame Squirrel was there some time this year, also, so maybe she'll come along and remind us of her experience. The search feature ain't so great here anymore.

The original owners were relatives of my family, and it totally rocked for years. I have only been once since they retired because I was passing through the area. I was disappointed.

A few of the original dishes are still on the menu, but I would prob stick to fried stuff.

Update for those who are interested...

The food was ok. I got the catfish pointe coupee. Fried catfish atop rice and covered with crawfish etouffee with vegetables. The vegetable was corn, and that was gross, i ate one bite. The rest wasnt bad. My gf got a fried combo platter and she enjoyed it. The portions are huge neither of us finished. The chargrilled oysters we got for appetizers we hardly chargrilled.
