I would argue it's a concept issue more than anything marketing could overcome. People want something unique and not mass market/test marketed sameness. Or at least they want to perceive that's what they're getting.

They may live at home, but mommy probably hits a drive thru or Chipotle more than she cooks, if she does at all.

A girl I knew from Iowa went to Florida with her family on a vacation a few years back.

On their last night they all dressed up and went to Joe's Crab Shack. She posted the pics on fb. It was so sad.

Damn. That is sad and purely ignorance. Some people just don't understand that local is more than likely better. In Florida, you can go to almost any locally owned restaurant and it will be better than Joe's.
