My evil stepmother let it be known several times this past weekend how much she loves the fruit from Japanese Plum (Loquat) trees. She and her friends would eat them as they watched the Confederate troops march to war down the Main Street or something.

I tried finding a source to buy the fruit online but the only thing I see are the entire plants for sale. She doesn’t have a yard to grow the plants so that’s out.

Does anyone know of a place in the Lafayette or New Iberia area where I can buy the plums or a place that will ship them? I did see a place where you can pick your own produce but I would be cut out of the will if I suggested that.

Buying a house with a huge loquat in the back. Thing is slam full right now.

Doesn't really help your predicament, but hopefully it keeps yankees troops out my backyard.

Hit me up next year for a hook up.

Those things are great so long as not on your property. Then it’s a mess.

Most will be spoiled by the time they clean the piss and bums out the house.

When I lived on Magazine St, our house had a huge mespelouse tree in the backyard. Every year when the fruit would drop, we would have a plague of river rats invading the yard to eat the fruit. Those wharf rats were larger than purse dogs. It was kinda scary.

You are welcome to come to my house and pick as much as you want. Don't bring your cow of a stepmother though

I find so many people with these trees really don't utilize the fruit. There are several right here in my neighborhood in various stages of bloom and ripening and I never see anyone picking the fruit.

Perhaps if you see someone in your area with a tree you could knock on their door and ask if they'd let you pick some. Maybe offer a couple jars of preserves in return for the favor....

Worth a shot.
