fry turkey that doesn't have the 15 min timer on it?
Same company, same concept, same reason that miserable turkey fryer timer.

I posted a link to a Venable Fabricators flip top boiler on page one. The reason I went with it was, even though I had help, it was tough lifting up two sacks out of the pot when done.
With a flip top boiler, I can do the whole process by my self.

My only negative is the basket (not the pot) is a touch on the thin side but its plenty strong enough.
I wanted to bump this to say that they re did how they make the baskets a cpl years ago and its much better now. Maybe a tad thiner than some others but the rolled rim is much bigger and the handle is much thicker so it feels way more sturdy picking up 2 sacks of crawfish. HPC was also cool enough to swap out my old style with a new style when I went to pick up a order

1) You are putting too much water in it
2) Buy a net, don't use the basket for the crawfish. Put the basket before you dump the crawfish and net them out when ur done. That'll give you more room as well.

I’ve had my crawfish pot and burner for about 25 years.
I’ve had mine since 1991(wedding present from my aunt Juelie), this weekend I used it to boil #100+ lbs…

I have a high performance 120qt pot and love it. Pricy yes but boils water in 7min and works well in the wind.
I like a large banjo burner. might take a couple minutes longer to get to temp but i can whisper sweet nothings into your ear next to it. The sound is worth it.

Which one do you have, and how big of a pot do you use it on?

the one i use is a chinese knockoff of the larger bayou classic one. BG14 i think. IMO those double and triple jet burners arent as advertised. the images shown in this thread kinda prove. Look at all that heat energy being blow out the sides. I run it on an 80qt,
Id like to build a custom one that runs on a 240v electric element. When i converted by brew system to electric, my times to heat up mash an get to boil were cut down significantly because 100% of the energy is going into the water. While these burners are putting in like 20-30%. Would just have to get a basket made with feet to lift it off the element. and for a sack would probably need a 100qt. might be easier with one of those flip basket types.

Different strokes for different folks. My crew loves that sound because it means the boil has started. Besides its only at full tilt for 8 min then its barely on to keep the water at a boil for the veggies nice and quiet.

I would wager more than a couple. I do have a 10" banjo burner I can swap out with 3 bolts for mine so I'll test it out one day. That's used for regular cooking (gumbo) and frying.

It is exactly as advertised, its at a boil in about 8 min and the wind barely slows that down because those tubes help keep the heat on the pot. It also gets to a reboil in under 2 min.
Its all in what you like for your boil

quote:I actually find it more quiet than a standard burner. I'm actually able to almost completely close the regulator once it gets to a rolling boil. And it sure isn't roaring anywhere near as long as a standard burner.

quote:another anecdotal tidbit. 25 years ago before all these double and triple jet burners, i had a thought that the limiting factor in these systems isnt the jet itself. Its the surface area of the propane to evaporate. So i out together a manifold to link 2 20# tanks together to a single jet and from what i remember, went from hose water to boil is 7 mins. My engineer dad was proud.

So really i do think the double or triple jest arent "much" better than the single with a high pressure reg. how to define "much" is up for interpretation.

Better not stand too close to that thing!

With a 30 psi regulator, my single
Jet brings 50 quarts of water in a 100 quart pot to a boil in about 15 minutes. Once I dump the crawfish, it is back to a boil in 5 min. That’s fine for me.
