Is La Pines Cafe in Slidell any good?

Caught it on Diners, Dines and Diveins and I will be in Slidell tomorrow, was wondering if it is worth going there for brunch.
Also any other recommendations in the I12 area between BR and Slidell for a food stop?

They’re breakfast is really good. Ask for your biscuits to be grilled.
Can’t vouch for the lunch food because I’ve never gotten it, they certainly are not known locally for they’re bbq or whatever they fed Guy

La Pines is a bit of a dump. Their lunch is ok if you stick to smoked meat (I think it's the prime rib po boy or something). Most of the menu seems replacement level and you aren't getting much ambiance or anything. I can't vouch for their breakfast tho, as I've only been for lunch.
I would suggest Liz's Where Y'at in Mandeville if you want a good casual brunch that's a local fave. It's a bit off the exit but the service is fast and they have outdoor seating as well. There's also Coffee Raini in Mandeville and Covington which are popular casual brunchy spots. Hambone in Mandeville is also really good and more chef-y than the other places, but still casual.
There's plenty of fancier/more expensive brunch offerings in Covington as well if that is your interest.

What time are you going? Breakfast items that are a must have:
Chicken fried chicken breakfast plate
Soft shell crab Benedict
Shrimp omelet
Hot sausage biscuits
Poor mans Benedict with the chicken
And like someone said get your biscuits grilled
The rest is good breakfast just the usual

Yes, it’s good.
I’ve been for lunch a few times.

I went a few years ago, not impressed at all. But go with the opinion of more recent diners. BTW, it was a dump, not that that ever stops me.

It’s still bland but the food is decent-good. Some things are great.

I had the poor man's Benedict, buddy had the country skillet. I enjoyed the food, not too salty and the fried chicken was crispy, with a thin layer of breading but not oily.
They were out of the prime rib by the time we got there but we were always planning to get breakfast.
